Not a summary from the method.... But maybe grab a bucket of the soil being tested, put the data logger in the centre for bucket of soil and put the bucket into the freezer. It would interesting to see rate at which the heat is lost from the soil and the time it take for the logger to reach temperature equilibrium (freezer temp.)
I often have to Autoclave Biosecurity soil samples verified by the above technique (except using heat not cooling). ....
