I'm unsure what the catalyst might be, but in this age of rapid technological advancement and evolution of digital applications, I'd far prefer to own a put, rather than a call, on this terminal technology still existing at some point in the future.
Just like we today can't conceive of our card being swiped as payment using one of these devices, so too will it come as no surprise if the current clunky payment system isn't relaced by some or other contactless, intangible system of payment which precludes companies like Tyro from clipping the ticket (or experiencing reduced degrees of ticket clippings):
