It's a sidebar to what you're saying, but also important to consider time scale of a trade. Someone thinking about "will this stock go up in the next 3 months" is going to have a far different eye for something than someone thinking "will this stock go up in the next 3 years".
Nothing wrong with either approach imo, but certainly different and requiring different views and focuses!
