They have several years jump on any significant competition and will have their devices locked into production platforms so that competition is "locked" out. Their major problem is supplying the market they have lines up rather than worrying about someone else supplying a part. We are talking about a hugely increased market in intelligent fasteners that was estimated at over $50B but all that was before the new applications of Intevia Enterprise and the spin offs using the 3G access. The market could easily have doubled so supplying even 5-10% is enough to manage without caring who gets other bits.
