The UN has credibility because of its chartered democratic principles in which small countries can participate, even if the real power in respect of declaring war is in the hands of a select few countries of the Security Council especially the permanent members.
Putting Iran, Iraq and Lybia into committee chair positions on disarmament and human rights is a stroke of diplomatic genius. Maybe they will call for universal disarmament including Israel and the US.
