Well it looks like people have turned there attn to silver instead of gold.(the poor mans gold)
"The U.S. Mint, which began accepting orders from authorized dealers for the 2011 Gold Eagle bullion coin, as well as the 2011 Silver Eagle bullion coin, reported nearly 1.7 million silver bullion coins sold on the first business day of the new year."
(thats 5% of last years sales in one day or equal to 20 days of sales)

Looks like we have a good buying oportunity coming up for physical but when you take into account the falling AUS dollar and minting preimiums rising we will not see much relief.
