UNITED STATES PATENT ALLOWED FOR ANALGESIC AND
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY COMPOSITION
Pharmanet Group Limited (ASX: PNO) (the Company) announced today that it had
received a Notice of Allowance from the United States Patent & Trade Marks Office
(USPTO). The patent application No. 11/059,580 in the name of Cambridge Scientific Pty
Ltd, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary responsible for technology development is
directed towards the manufacture of its proprietary active ingredients for analgesic action
and the claims cover the manufacturing process and the product made by this process.
This allowed patent application is one of a series of patent applications relating to the
Tripeptofen project, and defines the rights in the use of the company’s active ingredients in
the commercially important analgesic and anti-inflammatory fields.
The patent application allowed by the USPTO has corresponding applications in advanced
stages of examination in other jurisdictions and results from those jurisdictions are
anticipated in the near future.
The Company expects that the successful patent examination in the United States will be
repeated in the other jurisdictions, resulting in a global market approach on analgesic and
anti-inflammatory products derived from the Company’s proprietary process.
The granting of the South African patent, in conjunction with the expected market re-entry
of Thermalife, will support licensing strategies with the Pharma industry.
The Company has currently 2 granted patent and 5 applications undergoing National Phase
examination for Analgesic and Anti inflammatory Composition. In addition, the Company
has one patent application in National Phase in 7 countries for Tissue Disruption
treatments, and 2 International PCT applications relating to Cox 2 Inhibition and Anticytokine
activity.
