Labor has increased Foreign Aid for Vietnam to $159 million this financial year - for building roads and a bridge etc.
Last week it was announced Vietnam would be buying another 12 Russian made SU-30 fighter-bombers for $450 million USD (to add to 20 others bought since 2009), and two new Dutch made navy corvettes for $668 million USD.
In recent years Vietnam has also ordered 6 new Russian built Kilo Class submarines costing approx $3 billion, 4 new Russian built stealth frigates costing $350 million each, 12 new 550 ton Russian designed fast missile boats, and a factory to manufacture various Russian designed guided missiles.
