NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks hit session highs in the final half hour of trade on Wednesday as confidence about Europe and the U.S. economy increased. "We're starting to see greater faith that Europe may be finally getting to a point to resolve some of its issues, Washington seems less childish [WTF?], and the economic data in the United States continues to point towards slow growth," said Burt White chief financial officer at LPL Financial. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA +1.25% added 128 points to 10,937.19. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index SPX +1.72% gained 20.73 points to 1,144.68. The Nasdaq Composite Index COMP +2.33% rose 58.35 points to 2,463.17.
