My personal view it will be death by a thousand cuts. As in over time their sovereign credit rating gets downgraded over & over. The USD is already relatively weak, however it will get a lot weaker if there are multiple downgrades in the coming 2-3 years. The interesting question for mine is how does China & Japan the biggest holders of US debt safe guard themselves from eventual devaluation of the bonds they hold.
