I think that the goverment would step in and set a floor price if the resource industry was threatened by china.
100% of australians have exposure to the resource sector, it would be political suicide for the australian government to allow china to exploit our resources.
Futhermore the government by the time china has a large slice of our iron ore resources india and countries alike will be on the move, there are 2 billion ppl making a transition from rural to city living in third world within 5yrs.
Bhp is diversified they have more than iron ore and i think they have bigger plans than the can be predicted.
Bhp has the capasity to value add to its mining sector.
Bhp could become a large global retail energy provider with profits of 12 billion per year I would imagine they have the cash. I believe that BHP have the skills and foresight to create huge value to share holders.
At the current rate of growth BHP will reach $200 within five years. They will be doing massive share buy backs.
They have the capcity to borrow 100 billion and pay it off in 10 yrs
