Imo you are totally nuts to risk your life by "riding" with some one you do not know, who's car is not licenced or insured to carry paying passengers and who do not have to abide by the zero alcohol and drug laws while driving.

How would you know whether the bloke picking you up from the airport or somewhere hasn't just finished a couple of joints with his mates and decides to go get some extra cash for the next hit?

Why would you encourage taking business away from the bloke who paid up to $200k for Taxi plates, pays for proper Commercial Third party Insurance on the vehicle, has the vehicle inspected annually, and abides by all Government rules and regulation surrounding picking up and transporting paying passengers?

What the insurance industry needs to do for a start is state openly and publicly that anybody using their private vehicle for commercial taxi purposes will not be paid out in the event of a claim while using that vehicle for hire or reward.

If these people want to use their car for hire or reward they can meet the same rules as anybody else carrying out a business and pay the additional registration and insurance charges, and be zero alcohol / drugs.

The sooner some one gets this Uber mob on a legal technicality and fines the bejesus out of them and puts them out of business the better for all...
