    But in reality it is not Uber's fault, they are a commercial operation acting in accordance with the law

    That is what the class action was about.
    There was a paper trail.
    Uber entered the market flouting the existing laws then asked for forgiveness.
    It was a worldwide business tactic of theirs.
    Start off with free rides, discounted fares building up public support for their service.
    The taxi industry left themselves open to disruption because many customers their monopoly service was substandard and welcomed the competition.

    Anyway Uber got what they wanted.
    Their next pushback will be on how their drivers are paid.
    Talking about whether they really are contractors or should be paid minimum rates and other entitlements.
    Federal Labor want to make further changes to IR laws relating to the gig economy.
