Uber should drive change. The sorry state of our taxi services is, in part, due to too few licenses being made available causing too little competition. In reality, all uber has done is bring SCV licensed cars to the masses. I use a specific taxi for most of my trips because I know the car will be modern and clean, the driver polite, and the service impeccable. These have always been available, but there was no easy way for the general public to know about them, let alone use them in an ad hoc fashion.
