On October 28, the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board voted 4-3 to not uphold the DRMS staff's approval of BLR's proposed NOI modification to conduct a UBHM test and bulk sample extraction at Hansen. The approved motion also remanded the application back to staff to be considered and reviewed under the more stringent mining regulations rather than the prospecting regulations.

In September, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management inspected the Hansen site and issued the following report:

A few of the comments from the report:
-The operator does not think that they will be able to implement their NOI modification until next spring or summer because they need to renew their CUP with Fremont County

-The eventual mine plant will involve borehole mining that incorporates ablation technology to remove Uranium that is coating the grains of deeply buried sandstones

-The Western Uranium Corporation is going to buy out Black Range Minerals; although, the operations of Black Range will likely continue under the same name
