Here is the link to the 2005 UBS Utilities conference in New York which was held on the 16/17 of this month.

AEP did a presentation, but the most interesting piece was the Keynote FERC Presentation with Suedeen Kelly on the 17/02@ 12:00. The first ten minutes was about wind generation transmission issues.

She discussed the issues with long term firm and non firm transmission contracts in relation too project financing. Most project finance requires a long term contract or a PPA as it is called in Australia. With wind turbines running around a third of the time, the long term firm contract is what project finance normally requires. This is the more expensive option for PHY becasue normally the generator will be charged 100% of the time for the use of transmission lines, and roughly only producing 30/40% of the time.

It looks like the 30 meg Yambuk Farm will be more efficent for PHY because it is funded from current cash reserves and other lines of credit. This should allow the company to reduce transmission costs and hopefully get a better price per mw/hr.

    What do you think Ousia?
