Yes, I can see why they're doing it, but I still find shorting to be a manipulative contrived maneouvre. And yes, it's legal, but I don't have a high opinion of an activity that allows somebody to sell something they don't own.
But that's just me. And probably hundreds of other frustrated long term holders watching their holding's value getting wiped out by shorters.
I doubt that anyone can deny that shorting, and using bots to walk the price down so it is guaranteed to succeed, is market manipulation.
