Larry article is cut short so we may not have all the facts just speculations.
lets looks at some good facts if the shares were indeed sold off to many investors who's holdings is less than the asx reportable % as substantial holder(s).
1- the sum of many is better and greater for a company than the sum of one.
2- share the wealth and create more diversified environment.
3- we are all in the sharemarket for growth and return so the more the better. Many small fish can survive with better odds that one big fish in a lake.
4- take out the 'what if' factor for risk management and selloff from the substantial holder. Wbc is classic example to SP when sold off.

however i still feel that until we get the actual full story and facts its speculation.
