Your question about cobalt being free is rhetorical but relevant.
Because, sunlight actually IS free (so far) and that is why solar is exploding.
No matter how low oil is, it costs money to extract it. So solar will keep gaining.
Thus, energy storage becomes the elephant in the room. All the press is on EVs.
But grid storage demand is the hidden part of the iceberg. The metals needed for large batteries in grid storage have years of growth ahead.
