I'm no expert either.

I believe there are issues relating to surface and groundwater water management with both csm and ucg but not all of them are negatives. Though I see the Americans are having a real stoush at the moment over fraccing and if its contaminating groundwater aquifers.

The benefit for OZ though is most of our coal basins are under the 'GABBA' - or Great Australian Bugger All.

So no prime livestock land there .. anyway we like to build suburbs on our best agriculteral land.

If your question was which is better csm or ucg .. well you get a much higher enegy yeild from ucg.
