Mocfan I agree totally but even if this is done, yes both technologies are different (CSG and UCG) and we all know they all have their own and unique potential and potential for problems for that matter, which doesn't mean they can't be overcome when these arise (As we've already seen).

Though I believe Carbon Energy and it's unique technology has many more advantages over the CSG techology, it's the poor handling by the DERM and the Cougar debacle which is why Carbon Energy themselves, are treading cautiously when it comes to the DERM and and the State Goverment (Remember they hold the key to this going ahead in this state)and as we all know there has been alot invested the Qld operation.

It's this DERM debacle in my opinion which has caused a tremendous amount of damage creating a decoy for the State Governments more favoured and difficult to turn back technology (Qld Government in bed with CSG companies) unfortunately they both access their resource from the coal seam but as we all know, it's not that simple but the governement to me doesn't wish for the general public to know the differences because they've probably now come to realise there is a better technology that has the ability to access much more from the coal seam than their much favoured CSG. I've got no doubt the state government and the DERM know of the problems that exist in the CSG industry but because they've already made their massive $$$$ committment, it's too late to change, I just hope they see the bright future in UCG also and have a change of heart.

The DERM debacles caused damage to a fantastic new technology which could have and should have been avoided by handling things with a little more sensitivity and understanding, one day the government will need this industry, unfortunately they can't see past their own noses.

I just hope a new Government can!!
