ucg technology questions, page-3

Hi Dex, thanks for the reply.

I haven't got an agenda, I'm just asking what I think are relevent questions about the technology provider that Cougar has chosen.

The reason I'm asking the question here and not emailing the companies directly is because I assumed you and others may have asked these same questions to the companies before and I thought you might like to share the answers with the rest of us. I also thought it would be a good topic to discuss.

    Anyway, back to your answers.

Q1 - Have you seen the Ergo website Dex? Maybe it's just me, but they make it sound like they're pumping out major UCG projects all over the world. Surely they've built more generators than the two small pilot plants at Chinchilla and Majuba?

Heres some quotes from the website:

"Ergo Exergy is providing εUCG technology to a range of commercial projects worldwide."

"Today, we are the only company providing UCG technology to new commercial UCG operations around the world. Our knowledge, technical expertise and understanding are growing with every new UCG development in different geological, hydrogeological, and regulatory environments all over the planet."

"Together with international energy companies, Ergo Exergy advances current and potential UCG projects around the globe."

"The current portfolio of our international UCG-based commercial projects is extensive."

Q2 - I'm not after technical details, I was just interested to know how much different the Majuba generator is to the one at Chinchilla. It was about 6 or 7 years between the two, so you would think the Majuba generator would be far more advanced, but maybe not.

Where did the R&D funding come from between the two projects? And do you think the technology being used at Kingaroy could more or less be exactly the same as that used at Chinchilla in 1999?

Q3 - I agree that Linc has possibly spent more money on R&D over the past few years than Ergo has over the last ten. Which leads me to another question.

When you consider the money that Linc has spent, along with the team of up to 100 engineers working 24/7, the on-site laboratory, the high gas quality demands of the GTL plant and the drilling and development of 3 generators, each being an improvement on the previous, do you think there is a good possibility that Linc's technology is now superior to Ergo's?

    Cheers
