We have got to stop this assault on UCG. Bloodcreek was a stitch up and Chinchilla is being targeted by the CSG barons as well. Although there are no specifics yet, it is likely that the ‘serious environmental harm’ will be about contamination by aromatics allegedly produced by UCG. Now listen carefully …. these ‘contaminants’ are already present in virgin coal but will have leached out over into the surrounding ground over millions of years. Their detection is nothing to do with UCG. They are well within drinking water limits and no threat to farmers, etc. UCG is inherently benign but being made a scapegoat purely to serve vested interests. Don’t let the wool be pulled over your eyes.
