I think any spiritual phenomenon, like leaving the body / astral travel can be achieved with either right or left hand path practices. Left hand path being things like occultism and so on. I wouldn't touch that stuff with a 40 foot pole.
But if someone was meditating or practising Christian Mysticism techniques, the very same phenomenon could occur spontaneously. Saint Teresa of Avila did all sorts of unusual paranormal feats.
