    "the United States is actually concerned about aliens?"

    @tigmeister

    Most of the government would be completely unaware of the matter of UFOs. However the DoD is aware because they've been studying them for 70 years, and engaged in misinformation and coverups. That's a fact. Are they concerned? I don't know - some might be. If you were in charge of the USAF and your pilots were experiencing near misses with objects in restricted air space, are you concerned? The penalty for lying to Congress would be pretty severe, so we can assume a level of truth from the two questioned in last week's hearing. They've admitted there are things flying around in restricted air space and they don't know what they are. So they exist - fact.

    What exactly is it that exists?

    Breakaway technology exists. There's objects flying through the air exhibitng properties that we cannot match. The objects are displaying not just next-generation technology, it's beyond next generation.

    The options for explaining these objects is now very limited. Some possibilities:

    • A breakaway human civilization - just like us but far more technologically advanced
    • Alien life
    • Alien AI or probes
    • Future humans, ie, time travel
    • Some sort of prosaic explanation not yet considered

    Regarding that last point. When the DoD analyze evidence, it's going to be an advanced process with mulitiple experts involved. These people know what weather balloons look like, they know what birds, drones and quadcopters look like, they know the flight paths of all military and commercial aircraft, they know what ball lightning and swamp gas looks like, they know how to detect CGI to a high degree of accuracy, they know about metadata, etc. So when they say "we don't know what that is flying past your cockpit window", you know they have already ruled out a LOT of stuff. They have 143 such cases since 2004.
