    There's an old saying from war time that says - "there are no atheists in a trench". Meaning that when one's life is truly on the line, many atheists find themselves praying to god for protection or absolution.

    So I don't think we can help it. If we regard ourselves as separate to the universe (we all do), we have the same tendency to think of the 'prime mover' as separate to both ourselves and the universe. I think it's more likely that Truth (God) is the entirety of existence. The good & bad, the sublime & the profane, the saints & the sinners. Everything. And there's nothing blasphemous about that view.
