I mentioned Gilgamesh a few times because the Bible scribes, perhaps Moses, was aware of the influence of Gilgamesh in His community as a story, a mythology, history maybe all rolled into one.
The use of sections of Gilgamesh were a likely ploy to engage the public so Gilgamesh was woven into Genesis in the form of general themes and especially Ecclesiastics which would have been a copy-write violation. Genesis is of course a deeply symbolic work of extraordinary depth.
The Judeo-Christian religions did not form in a vacuum, they were greatly influenced by the Egyptian religions which gave them the one God and the Sumerian religions which gave them the Creation myths.
Not sure about the US invading Iraq because of some archeological find.
