The bad in us is our nature that we are challenged to overcome.

The Bible is an expression of spiritual concepts and words are used to convey abstract notions into practical solutions so as to produce a more just, unified humanity. One human can spent thousands of a bottle of whiskey and another human can't afford a loaf of bread to ward off hunger. These are the kinds of states the Bible is urging us to overcome, but sadly a great many Christians are turning to Prosperity doctrines because they get Jesus and rich at the same time without caring too much about those who have nothing.

Words are only a call to action, the Bible is about actions, about deeds, about self-sacrifice. The Bible is useless it's words pointless unless it is seen as a call to arms, as a way to make this planet more equitable and fair for everyone.
