So yes, Christ's resurrection was thought to be possibly physical until God cleared this up by revealing to Paul the true meaning of the resurrection and from then on we all knew that the resurrection was meant as the spiritual separation of the spirit rising from the deceased body, Christ in this case. It also meant that the truth of Christ transcended His physical death and went on to transform the planet.

After Paul's revelation we could then relate back to what the true resurrection of Christ meant.
