Yes, the Taliban, Islam in general, it's about 1600 years after its founding. No religion can remain relevant for 1600 years, let alone 2000 or more.

Christianity at about the same age as Islam is today was sweeping across the planet claiming new lands in a great colonial conquest. Destroying cultures, obliterating other religions and causing untold death and suffering. This was post the Crusades, but only just, a time when it was deemed noble to murder your way across independant provinces for the love of Christ.

The Witch trials were still to come but the various Inquisitions were still bubbling away, a wonderful festive time when church authorities burnt people alive as a public spectacle.

So when we talk of Islam as an abomination, which it is, this religion of utter ignorance that mostly rails against modernity and anything to do with the emancipation of women, we must remember that Christianity has been far more brutal and just as discriminatory to women. Christianity's ignorance has been tempered somewhat by the fact that science, the Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution grew out of the same Christian stronghold.

Today Christianity is an old pair of slippers and it is hopped that Islam might become an old pair of slippers as well, but I seriously doubt that. These people learnt to hate from the tit and hatred is their super power.
