Russia was quick to announce they'd developed hypersonic missiles that are practically invisible to active radar systems.
China is on a mission to become the world's superpower and if they had advanced technology like that I'm sure word would have leaked out, either officially or unofficially, to demoralize the West and engender a "resistance is futile" mindset. It's in the news that they've developed AI technology capable of reading people's minds and I'm guessing they want everyone to believe that freedom of thought no longer exists.
That object has to be an extraterrestrial craft of some sort.
