There is no autonomous 'you' who 'blocks the mind or ego.' It's all the functioning of a brain generating a wide range of conscious experience, including a sense of self, based on information input and memory function. Whatever you can or cannot do is a matter of brain state and condition, not autonomy of self that 'uses the brain.'
