The interesting thing to note is that if this route went fwd Eyasi would become way more vaulable and also put Pangani squarely in the picture (if there is actually any oil there).

The actual shortest route would be from Uganda straight through 12B and then along the Tanzania/Kenya border to Tanga.

p.s I am still furious with pvd for doing the dirty on Eyasi.

Lapsset blow as Uganda signs pipeline deal with Tanzania

Kenya’s prospects of a crude oil pipeline through Hoima-Lokichar-Lamu could be crushed after Uganda signed an agreement with Tanzania to explore the Tanga route.
If Uganda goes ahead to construct the crude oil pipeline through Tanga, it will deal a major blow to Kenya’s Lamu Port South Sudan Ethiopia Transport corridor (Lapsset) project.
Uganda, Tanzania, Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation and Total E&P Uganda signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) dictating new crude oil pipeline arrangements.
The MoU also invites other interested parties such as Kenya to assess and develop the Tanga route, creating a base for development of a crude export pipeline from Hoima to Tanzania's Tanga port.
“We are simply evaluating the least cost pipeline route through the East African coast, our plans focus on ensuring our crude oil has value,” said Uganda’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development Permanent Secretary Fred Kabagambe-Kaliisa.
    LAPSSET
The proposed Hoima-Lokichar-Lamu oil pipeline is one of Lapsset project's key infrastructure through the northern route.
Total E&P Uganda could however emerge the big winner having advocated for an alternative cheaper route for the crude oil pipeline.
Tullow Oil, Total E&P Uganda and China National Offshore Oil Company are partners in Uganda's upstream sector.
Uganda has so far confirmed 6.5 billion barrels of oil, 1.4 billion of them recoverable and is scouting the best proceeds for its heated crude oil.
Kenya has maintained that it will not panic but stay focused.
“We do not know of any other directive other than the one by the two heads of state, we cannot divert from it. We will stick to it until we receive communication otherwise,” said Daniel Kiptoo, Petroleum Legal Advisor to the Cabinet Secretary Davies Chirchir.
A joint Kenya-Uganda working committee is moving forward with plans for the $4billion crude oil Hoima- Lokichar-Lamu pipeline.
