If it's related to the casing failure, bad news but understandable... contaminants would have definitely got into the groundwater through the broken casing.
If it's related to the gasification itself... bad news period. Seems more likely it's from the casing failure though.
Have to wait for an announcement from the company to see how serious this is. Even if the detected levels are well below the minimum safe levels this is still going to be very bad publicity for all UCG companies.
