JAGUAR WELL SPUDS


Elixir Petroleum Ltd (ASX: EXR, AIM: ELP) is pleased to advise that its latest exploration well on the North Sea Jaguar prospect has commenced drilling.

The Jaguar well, designated as 211/22b-5, was spudded by the semi-submersible rig Bredford Dolphin on 23 January 2006. Drilling time to the planned total depth of circa 4,000m is expected to be approximately 45 days, assuming no downtime.

Information regarding the Jaguar prospect was provided in the Company's market announcement made on 21 January 2006.

Elixir does not intend to make further announcements regarding the Jaguar well until the target zone is intersected, unless significant hydrocarbons are encountered in the interim.
