What a stupid, stupid policy.... it's like they are trying to lose.
What does the military think of this? i highly doubt they want people who don't want to be there.
Also, if there isn't enough work while doing national service, it just means people have been taken out of the broader economy and are sitting around twiddling their thumbs being unproductive rather than doing useful things like manufacturing or building houses etc.
These people need to get it through their thick little skulls that national service and conscription (with a few caveats such as imminent invasion) is a stupid idea.
