Spike Milligan ( and of.course Peter Sellers and Harry Secombe) constituted the Goon Show, a radio program of the BBC which ran from about 1950 to about 1956.
At the school I attended at the time, many of us were addicted to this new humour and would daily remind each other of the humour and characters of the previous week's broadcast.
The humour and political satire of the Goon Show was revolutionary and it would very soon in the 60s and 70s influence programs like The Frost Report, I'm Sorry I'll read that again and of course Monty Python.
