A couple of really enjoyable programs I've been watching:

The History of the British Garden, with Monty Don

Beautiful gardens in stately homes & palaces, mostly publicly owned and open to the public.
It starts with 17th century gardens and we get a look at everything to do with the plants & trees, how they are & were maintained.
Monty Don will best be known for the series Lost Gardens, where overgrown & derelict gardens of various kinds were restored for the camera, but he brings all his skill and knowledge to this program

Charles 1, Downfall of a King (SBS)

This reenactment series (3 episodes) takes us through the various stages of the stand-off between the King and the Parliament, leading to the Civil War.
It would be of most interest to history fans, with the detail of the breakdown discussed step by step.
Haven't seen Ep 3 yet but I doubt if it will actually get us into any Civil War action, but only to the point where the monarchy is declared by Parliament to no longer exist and the person of Charles Stuart delared an outlaw.
