Well I guess the race to the bottom (no pun intended) has pretty well affected movie making everywhere.
My take on it is the advent of streaming has pretty well downgraded standards all over but probably more in TV series than movies.
The US and Nordic countries are mainly.concentrated on pumping out volume, while some countries like France, Italy, UK, Australia and others try to produce quality screen product.
I doubt if people will be going back in the future to watch things from this period as they do to watch things made 30, 40, 50 years ago.
But there are standouts still among the stuff being made now that will have enduring appeal. It's just harder to find them but the best guide is who the actors are. The good actors want to be seen in good productions, so if you've seen the best actors in recent productions then usually they are worth watching. Doesn't always work though
