Rewatching a great Australian series from 45 years ago - Water Under the Bridge based on the novel by Sumner Locke Elliott.
Remastered from the video tape I guess of its original Network 10 broadcast, it's grainy appearance somehow adds to its portrayal of an Australia between the two world wars.
There's something about Australian productions from this era. They have authenticity, especially when they're based on our own literature. The actors were recognisably us as well. I wonder do they have Elliott in school curricula. Probably not. There are many great Aus writers from the last century who need continued reading so we understand this country more.
