Been watching Boccacccio 70 on SBS of course. It's a 3 part commentary on Italy of the 1960s, mainly from a humorous viewpoint but social also. But watching it for maybe the third time, I'm always amazed at how quickly Italy rebuilt its cities and industries ànd got its people back to work after the war. Some big stars ànd famous directors for the segments and don't they just give it everything. The directors are Antonioni of course, Visconti ànd I think de Sica, but there's a missing segment. The black & white filming gives it the right context I think. The season ends very soon and it may never return.
