I watched that other epic War & Peace ( the old version) to see how it stacked up against Zhivago.
It didn't even though they weren't all that far apart in time of production. It didn't, it was pure Hollywood. The scale of the battle scenes was impressive though and the retreat from Moscow.

Europe really has a lot to thank Russia for. They saw off Napoleon and Hitler plus they endured total misery to prove communist/socialist dictatorship doesn't work.
