Reilly, Ace of Spies
This series still holds up well (1983), in fact better than the movie mentioned above.
It covers the period about 1900 1920s and involves some real personalities of the forerunner to MI6.
It's also one of the landmark roles for Sam Neill in his early career and has a good cast.
Don't know if it's still obtainable but worth watching.
