I wasn't wrong about Dr Thorne, an adaption of the Anthony Trollope book. I went to my bookshelves and found the book was 500 pages. The TV series was 4 one hour episodes...a travesty. Also the print wasn't good, it should have been remastered And they'd added a short intro & afterword by Julian Fellows, the Downton Abbey writer, commenting on each episode, which was so dumbed down it was obviously for the American market.
Well no matter, I can watch Bleak House now, which is far superior.
