The Lives of Others
This German film is set in the last years of the GDR and centres round a Stasi operation to catch "traitors" associated with a leading playwright.
The Stasi organisation seems to have only two classes of citizens outside the party heirarchy - suspects or informers. The scope of their intelligence gathering is awesome.
Excellent & compelling viewing.
