When I embarked on my "read the 19th century project", about 40 years ago, I started with Charles Dickens and read all but one or two of his novels. One I couldn't get into was Dombey & Son.
But one of his lesser known books , Martin Chuzzlewit, was made into a very good tv series in 1994, with an outstanding cast led by Paul Schofield & including Tom Wilkinson as the unctuous Mr Pecksniff and Julia Sawahla & Emma Chambers as his daughters, to mention but a few.
Like Dickens himself, this series will be timeless and I suspect it is on some streaming service if not dvd.
