Love in a Cold Climate
Based on Nancy Mitford's two most famous books.
I love Nancy Mitford, she was one of the Bright Young Things of the post-WW1 generation and a close friend of Evelyn Waugh. I love her voice, I heard her interviewed once on the BBC. The first part of this series is loosely based on her own family, with her eccentric father who thought he could bring misfortune on people he despised by writing their names on slips of paper and putting them in a drawer.
He also entertained the children by sending them into the woods and then hunting them down on horseback with his hounds. What a hoot! All foreigners he despised as well, especially the French whom he called sewers.
A different time, a different world but it had it's own special qualities.
