Les Gardiennes
A very fine movie if you are happy to imagine the end.
It's the Great War and all the able men are at the front, leaving the women to struggle with managing the farms, in a time when the harvesting is done by hand and the ploughing done with a horse or bullock. The only assistance that can be obtained is a young unmarried woman but complications arise when one of the sons comes home on leave.
For me though the story was in seeing how hard farming was just a few generations ago.
