The Browning Version (1991)
One of the greatest benefits I think of getting older is you recognise and accept your bad errors of judgement. So I find myself asking why on earth I would have relegated such a good movie to the rejects box. And I don't have an answer.
Be that as it may, Albert Finney (one of THE greats of the British new wave cinema) and the rest of the cast make this well worth watching.
The title derives from the author -Robert Browning -of a translation of the Greek tragedy Agamemnon.
I'm not well enough informed about that to be sure, but I think the plot may have echoes of that tragedy too.
