11/10/2006 - Biodiesel-Expo 2006: One week to go

The UK's first dedicated Biodiesel Expo opens its doors next Wednesday, 18th October, having sold all available stand space and with nearly 2,000 visitors pre-registered. "We set out to provide a meeting point for all those interested in the growing biodiesel sector," said Roger Flynn, Director for the Biodiesel Expo, and have been overwhelmed by just how much interest there is from suppliers, producers and potential producers."

The show, which will run at the George Stephenson Pavilion at the County Showground in Newark, Nottinghamshire, has been sold out of exhibitor space for sometime and the pre-registered visitor numbers are currently approaching the 2,000 mark with visitors still registering at the rate of over 50 a day. Registration for visitors is still free but the cut-off for registration is 12 noon on Friday 13th October. For those who turn up on the day there is a £50 entrance fee.

For the visitors, the organiser, Chameleon Events, has set up a series of free speaker sessions covering a variety of topics including the tax situation for biodiesel producers, the latest manufacturing techniques, an overview of the UK marketplace. There are also over 35 exhibitors displaying technology to produce biodiesel including reactor manufacturers, purification techniques, fuel quality testing, franchise providers, tank storage, chemical suppliers, consultant services and much more.

"The biodiesel market has come a long way in a very short time," said Roger Flynn. "The image of Biodiesel as smelling of chips and chucking out clouds of smoke may linger in comedy sketches but is far from the truth. Today's biodiesel market is growing rapidly as the general public, and industry, begin to understand that it is efficient, cheaper and more environmentally friendly than anything else currently on offer at the pumps."
